Frequently asked questions

Can we take our GA4 data with us?

Partly. Matomo's Google Analytics Importer brings report data from GA4 into a separate website in Matomo. It does not carry over individual visits. We check beforehand what is possible for your property.

How long do GA4 and Matomo run in parallel?

Until the numbers match in a way you can explain and your team works confidently with Matomo. We agree on the period together.

What happens to Google Ads and Search Console?

Matomo reports conversions to Google Ads with our Conversions API plugin, and SearchReport shows Search Console queries right in Matomo. Both plugins are available in our shop.

Will Matomo run on our servers or yours?

Either. We migrate into your own Matomo instance or into a managed instance with us, operated in German data centers.

Is Matomo more privacy-friendly than GA4?

Matomo can run with minimal data, and the data stays with you. Which settings are right for you is up to you and your data protection officer, we implement them.
